Bingkai Karya – The hipdut genre is set to expand beyond local audiences and reach international listeners, including Japan. Sony Music Indonesia, in collaboration with Sony Music Japan, has officially launched a cross-country project uniting two of their artists, Sisca Saras from WeCord and NecoMe (Ayaka Yasumoto), through a single titled “Swipe Kanan Kiri.”
F4dli from FloorInc. was selected as the producer of this track, following his success with the viral hit “Aku Dah Lupa,” performed by Mikky-Zia. “The Sony Music Indonesia team was working on a collaboration project with Sony Music Japan and offered me the opportunity to work with a Japanese artist because they were interested in my sound. From there, we began communicating and eventually agreed to create this collaboration, which gave birth to a single that blends two cultures,” he explained.
Sisca Saras expressed her excitement about collaborating with NecoMe (Ayaka Yasumoto), especially since they share a similar background. “This project has been an incredibly exciting experience for me because it’s my first time working with an international musician. I’ve always loved collaborations, especially getting the chance to sing with a Japanese idol who shares a similar background since we’re both idols. The process was also unique because of the language barrier, so workshops with translators had to be done carefully to ensure the song felt cohesive despite using two different languages.”
The recording process took place in January 2026, coinciding with the visit of the Sony Music Japan team to Jakarta. Within just five days, two songs, one music video, and seven pieces of content were completed. With such a fast production timeline, the Sony Music Japan team was eager to release “Swipe Kanan Kiri,” officially setting April 10 as its release date. This timing also aligns with several major activities in NecoMe’s music career in Japan.
The choice of hipdut as the arrangement for “Swipe Kanan Kiri” was deliberate. This genre, which combines modern hip-hop elements with traditional Indonesian dangdut, is currently on the rise. By merging these two styles, the team hopes Indonesian music can gain acceptance in international markets, with Japan as the starting point. F4dli’s selection as producer was carefully considered, especially given his experience with hipdut tracks like “Aku Dah Lupa” and “Aku Bilang Jangan.” “The combination of Indonesian and Japanese music is rare, so I used koplo or dangdut as the foundation, then added Japanese-style melodies and sound elements to make it feel fresh and unique,” he said.
Sisca also welcomed the opportunity to explore hipdut in this track. “It’s so fun! For me, hipdut is relaxed and enjoyable to sing. I didn’t find it difficult because I love upbeat songs you can dance to. As a musician, it’s exciting to perform hipdut with two languages in one song.”
According to the Sony Music Indonesia team, the “Hipdut Goes Through Japan” project is an important step in introducing Indonesian music to a wider global audience. The debut collaboration is expected to serve as a stepping stone for Sisca Saras to expand internationally, while also strengthening NecoMe’s presence as a global artist. As part of this ongoing collaboration initiative, the Japanese team has returned to Sony Music Indonesia’s studio for further recording sessions with F4dli, this time featuring a different lineup of artists for upcoming Indonesia–Japan collaborative projects. The debut collaborative single by Sisca Saras and NecoMe (Ayaka Yasumoto), “Swipe Kanan Kiri,” has been available on digital music platforms since April 10.
