Now, 27 years later, in 2026, we can hear a remake version, re-arranged by Tohpati, collaborating with musician Meiska for vocals. “Ingin Kumiliki” itself will be a song from Tohpati’s upcoming album project.
“Ingin Kumiliki” is Tohpati and Meiska’s latest release, showcasing a strong emotional side, wrapped in a more modern and fresh musical arrangement. “Ingin Kumiliki” is a new interpretation of Tohpati’s work, which has been widely recognized since the 90s. In this version, the song is presented with a fresher approach without losing its original essence. “The song shouldn’t stay in its current era. It must be passed on to new audiences and singers,” said Tohpati.
For Meiska, the song holds a personal emotional connection, as it has been familiar to her since a young age. However, she also acknowledged the challenge of performing a song that already holds a special place in many listeners’ hearts. “I’ve always loved this song because the melody feels so familiar. But there’s definitely pressure, because it means a lot to many people,” Meiska shared.
Produced directly by Tohpati, the recording process became a memorable experience for Meiska. Having worked together before, the two were able to rebuild their chemistry, making the process feel more comfortable and collaborative. Through “Ingin Kumiliki”, Meiska hopes the song can resonate across generations and become a relevant piece for today’s music listeners.
