for Revenge Announces the Second Song from the Album “Perayaan Patah Hati Babak 2” Called “Penyangkalan”

Bingkai Karya – The Bandung band, for Revenge, which was founded in 2006, is preparing to release their single, “Penyangkalan.” Following the release of “Sadrah,” a pop-rock ballad with a hint of emo, as the first single off their forthcoming fifth album. The song explores the problem of someone denying that they are in a toxic relationship, as the title suggests.

In the process of writing the lyrics, Boniex was inspired by Cynantia Pratita (Stereo Wall) who had experienced such a relationship in her past. “Consciously, she was in an unhealthy relationship. However, unconsciously, she “denies” that the relationship is hurting each other. In our eyes, a toxic relationship will be full of denial. Couples can be in conflict, then forgive each other before hurting each other quickly. They will always deny that they are in an unhealthy relationship. Anyone caught in this situation can be a ‘perpetrator’ or a ‘victim’. They may not recognize that they are always in a revolving cycle,” explains Boniex.

The process itself was relatively short. In terms of music, Arief took references from modern rock bands that have been bustling lately. As for the lyrics, Boniex faced his own challenges. Not just simply throwing words into the song, he had to have long discussions, explore the experience of someone who had experienced it, and do in-depth research to find theories that dissect it, such as the theory of Stages of Grief to toxic relationships. Everything Boniex did to create the perfect lyrics for “Penyangkalan.”

Take the Courage, Stop Denial

The band, which consists of Boniex Noer on vocals, Arief Ismail on guitar, Izha Muhammad on bass, and Archims Pribadi on drums, want to spread the message that it’s okay to act courageously and stop denying when being in a toxic relationship. “Through ‘Penyangkalan,’ we try to illustrate this and ‘accompany’ the listeners who are going through that phase. Furthermore, from the toxic relationship side, we want to convey the message that no one benefits in an unhealthy relationship and invite our listeners to have the courage to end it if they experience it,” Boniex concluded.
