Bingkai Karya – After a long journey of shaping their latest work, Float officially releases their new EP, ‘Constant Changes’, accompanied by the new single “Yang Kembali Pulih.” Built around the philosophy of wounds, healing, and resilience, the release moves beyond simply dwelling on pain. Instead, “Yang Kembali Pulih” becomes a musical shield and source of strength for those willing to embrace their wounds, stand tall, and face uncertainty with courage.
For Float vocalist and songwriter Hotma “Meng” Roni Simamora, the song serves as one of the foundations of the EP, which was developed during the post-pandemic transition in 2023. Beginning with the idea of bilur, or the marks left by wounds, Meng sees wounds washed by faith as symbols of strength. The experience of hardship, he explains, can become a foundation for rising again, while anxiety should not be allowed to stand in the way.
“Berangkat dari kata ‘bilur’ atau bekas luka, luka yang dibasuh iman justru menyimbolkan kekuatan. Bermodal percaya, masa terpuruk terbukti bikin kita makin kuat bangkit. Kecemasan nggak boleh jadi rintangan. Lagu ini membawa spirit untuk berani menerjang badai,” ungkap Meng.
The spirit of the song is further developed through the EP’s arrangements and rhythmic elements. Binsar Tobing, on bass, recalls that the song originated from a voice note recorded by Meng in 2021. His minimalist yet powerful bass approach was designed to create a solid foundation that could embody the song’s determination to confront doubt.
On drums, Timur Segara describes a lengthy recording process that included creative debate over the song’s rhythmic direction. The initial arrangement carried a grand atmosphere, while the early drum takes were considered too wild. Ultimately, that intensity became an important part of the song’s message: healing is not instantaneous, but involves struggle, emotional turbulence, and the courage to rise again.
Meanwhile, guitarist Davin Qlintang helped strengthen the EP’s optimistic thread through guitar arrangements that follow the rhythm, theme, and patterns of each track. In particular, his approach on “Yang Kembali Pulih” was shaped to reinforce the song’s energetic and hopeful character.
The release is also accompanied by Float to Nature, a three-day, two-night event designed to create space for interaction between Float and their listeners, known as Floatmates. The event celebrates the EP’s release while also offering Floatmates the opportunity to obtain a physical cassette edition of Constant Changes.
‘Constant Changes’ and “Yang Kembali Pulih” are now available across digital streaming platforms in Indonesia, inviting listeners to embrace their wounds, find courage, and face life’s storms together with Float. The EP features four tracks: “Yang Kembali Pulih,” “Emily,” “Dimabuk Cahaya,” and “The Mirror Song (Constant Change).”
