Bingkai Karya – Singer-songwriter Mario G. Klau continues his musical journey this year with his latest single, “Tarik Ulur”. Following his previous single, “Salah Kaprah”, which showcased a lighter and more upbeat side of his musical style, Mario now brings a story that resonates with many people: an uncertain relationship that slowly wears down the heart.
“Tarik Ulur” is an emotional continuation of the musical style Mario began to showcase with “Salah Kaprah.” While Mario previously spoke about the courage to move forward in love, this time he addresses the phase when someone grows tired of pursuing a relationship that has no clear direction. The A&R behind the single explained that “Tarik Ulur” was born from a story that felt quite personal to Mario. “It’s quite an interesting story for Mario personally, learning from a relationship. Like, oh, this is how it feels to be pulled back and forth,” shared the A&R. That emotional nuance is strongly felt through lyrics like “Don’t you pull me back and forth anymore, I’ve had enough of running, chasing you uncertainly,” which is the core of the song’s anxiety. With Mario G. Klau’s signature emotional pop, “Tarik Ulur” presents itself as a song that embodies the feelings of many who have been in uncertain relationships.
During the production process, the biggest challenge came in translating the song’s emotional nuances into the right musical arrangement. To that end, Mario partnered with the production team S/EEK, who helped develop the musical character of “Tarik Ulur”, ensuring it remains lighthearted yet powerfully emotional at the same time. “Translating the nuances into tunes is a matter of finding the right way. Mario also thanks the S/EEK team for their help with the music production,” continued the A&R team.
Musically, “Tarik Ulur” still maintains Mario’s greatest strength as a storyteller. The warm arrangement combined with emotional progression makes the song relatable from the first listen. Listeners are invited into the sweet beginnings of a relationship, then gradually led to the weariness of a relationship that never truly clarified.
