Bingkai Karya-Consistency in songwriting has always been a hallmark of singer and songwriter Adhitia Sofyan. Having worked as a professional musician for nearly 16 years, Adhitia is always ready to make music. His latest song, “Ujung Andromeda,” demonstrates this. Adhitia wrote it after reading a news article about captured sounds from a pulsar star on social media. The star’s recorded sounds were similar to banging sounds.
“Lyrics don’t always come to me suddenly; sometimes I have to wait a long time. But this time, I immediately wrote the lyrics. ‘The echo of the stars has been heard, knocking on the corners of the universe…’ Yes, it turns out I was inspired by the news about the knocking sounds from the star,” he said.
The song “Ujung Andromeda” narrates the tale of a man waiting for a response from a woman who frequently disappears without a word. This woman seems to always avoid choosing a partner. If the man could speak his mind he would say, “Even the stars are knocking, yet your heart has not been moved to choose me?”
Alternate Tuning
Because Adhitia Sofyan likes experimenting with non-standard guitar tunings, you may find several chords that sound odd. Adhitia Sofyan was once seen casually strumming the Goo Goo Dolls song “Iris” on her guitar. “I wasn’t learning the song; instead, I was experimenting with the tuning of ‘Iris’ to see what concepts I could generate. I soon discovered a catchy riff that I enjoyed. Then I attempted to finish the song using the guitar riff and the first few lines,” Adhitia revealed.
Adhitia Sofyan worked on this song with the same producer and co-producer as his previous projects, Rendi Kopay and Hendar Dimas Anggara. The song is enriched with musical contributions from several big names. Jessilardus Mates on drums, Victor Prabowo on fretless bass and double bass, and Hendar Dimas Anggara on keyboards and piano. During the production process, the idea arose to invite Averalda Magda (Alda), a female singer from the duo Magidate as a backing vocalist. Also Endah Widiastuti directing and arranging the backing vocals. This collaboration made the song feel grander and brought an “atmospheric” nuance to it.
