International Family Day: The Annual Theme and Its Importance You Need To Remember

International Family Day is celebrated every year on May 15 all around the world. The United Nations (UN) initiated this memorial in 1993, and it first began in 1994. The purpose of International Family Day is to increase public awareness of global family concerns. It also strives to spread awareness of the social, economic, and demographic factors that influence families. The most important part of society and social unity is the family. The symbol for International Family Day is a heart that links together in a green circle from the top of the home to the roof.

Additionally, the UN began presenting an annual theme for each anniversary in 1996. The official themes for the previous few years included Families, Healthy Lives, and a Sustainable Future (2016), Families, Education, and Well-Being (2017), Families and Inclusive Societies (2018), and Families and Climate Action: Focus on SDG 13 (2019). The theme for this year’s celebration is Families in Development: Copenhagen and Beijing + 25.

This year’s theme has a connection to the importance of the role of families in battling the current conditions and the effects they bring while still in the euphoria of the warning amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Most people commemorate this year’s anniversary virtually.

The importance of the family and its function in societal development were topics of discussion at the Beijing and Copenhagen conferences 25 years ago. In 2020, the United Nations will celebrate International Family Day with a focus on this issue. Laws and social conventions are first built upon the foundation of a family. Family is a place where you may want to return when you feel hurt or depressed. The family can be a resource for overcoming personal and social anxieties like those that society frequently feels as a result of this pandemic. The family can help lessen the financial strain that this pandemic causes the majority of the population.
