Bingkai Karya – Two Indonesian music icons, Iwan Fals and Ebiet G. Ade, reunite in a heartfelt collaboration to convey deep meaning through Iwan Fals’ classic song “Ibu”. Released under Musica Studios on November 3, 2025, this duet follows their previous collaboration, “Titip Rindu Buat Ayah” by Ebiet G. Ade, which was released on September 2, 2025.
Their rendition of “Ibu” serves as a timeless reminder of the irreplaceable figure of a mother, an embodiment of life’s energy and the guardian of existence. Originally written by Iwan Fals in 1977, during his teenage years away from home, the song was born from a moment of longing. “This is actually an old song, written in 1977. I wrote it because I missed my mother deeply. That longing turned into this song,” recalls Iwan Fals.
This collaboration enriches the emotional depth of the piece, with Ebiet G. Ade adding his own heartfelt perspective as he remembers his late mother. “This song represents how a mother is willing to sacrifice everything for her children’s needs. I was truly moved by its message,” said Ebiet G. Ade.
The reunion of these two legendary musicians reinforces their shared role as storytellers of family values. Following “Titip Rindu Buat Ayah”, the song “Ibu” perfectly complements it, highlighting the importance of both parents’ roles. Both artists agree that themes of family will always remain relevant across generations, as they represent a universal need and a symbol of unconditional love.
“Mother is a figure deeply rooted in every aspect of life,” said Ebiet G. Ade, while Iwan Fals emphasized, “A mother is the source of life’s energy, a life force itself.”
“Ibu” becomes a vessel for both musicians to honor the wisdom their mothers passed down. Iwan Fals remembers his mother’s encouragement to be brave and expressive, while Ebiet G. Ade cherishes the lessons of simplicity she taught him. “As I grew older, I realized simplicity isn’t about lacking something, but about how we practice it in life,” reflected Ebiet G. Ade.
Through this release, Iwan Fals and Ebiet G. Ade remind the younger generation to love and honor their parents. “Cherish our mothers. A mother is the guardian of life so love her and be grateful,” said Iwan Fals. “We should not only love our mothers, but also our fathers. Honor your parents,” added Ebiet G. Ade.
The release of “Ibu” reinforces a powerful message that a mother is not just a person, she is home. This collaboration is a heartfelt reminder that the world feels empty without her prayers, and through a mother, love finds its true home.
