Bingkai Karya-Celebrating the 24th anniversary of her debut, J-pop diva Kumi Koda is currently on her greatest hits tour “KODA KUMI LIVE TOUR 2024 ~BEST SINGLE KNIGHT~,” with shows in 26 locations across Japan.
Recently on August 2, Kumi Koda dropped a new digital single titled “Jump to the Breeze,” collaborating with Tetsuya Komuro. This song was first released on Bilibili in China in 2023 to mark the 6th anniversary of the mobile game “Azur Lane,” which currently has 230 million players worldwide. At the time, the song became a hot topic among gamers and music fans in China.
Tetsuya Komuro, the iconic Japanese music producer, crafted the lyrics, composition, and arrangement for the track. When given the opportunity to collaborate with any top Japanese diva, Komuro personally selected Kumi Koda.
Tetsuya Komuro reflected on his past while working on this song, saying, “Years ago, I had a recording studio in Bali. As I worked on this track, memories of that place came flooding back, vivid like a tapestry. It captures the essence of those nostalgic midsummer days we haven’t heard in a while. Picture yourself on a southern island, losing track of time, reflecting on life and experiences, strolling along the beach, moving to the rhythm of the waves, and swaying to the music. Koda’s voice has truly matured, and I believe you’ll find this song to be beautifully bittersweet.”
Although the song initially debuted exclusively on the Chinese platform Bilibili, fans worldwide have been eagerly anticipating the global release of this summer hit featuring two of Japan’s most beloved music stars.
