Bingkai Karya – South Korean rock sensation MEMI is gearing up to take the US by storm with her debut performance at the iconic South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas. The rising star will be joining a lineup of other exciting Asian acts at the two-day “FRIENDS:FOREVER” showcase, presented by American entertainment company Jaded, on March 14th and 15th, 2024.
This marks MEMI’s first ever performance in the US, and she’s set to share the stage with other prominent Asian artists like Thuy, Se So Neon, Rei Ami, and more. The “FRIENDS:FOREVER” event is an expansion of last year’s one-day showcase, highlighting the growing buzz and talent emerging from the Asian music scene.
MEMI’s own musical journey began with her social media presence, where she amassed over 872,000 followers across Instagram and TikTok through her captivating guitar content. Her unique blend of pop-punk, alternative rock, and nu-metal influences has caught the attention of music giants like Fred Durst and Phoenix, further fueling her global recognition.
In December 2023, MEMI dropped her debut EP “M3MI,” followed by her first solo show in South Korea. With tracks like “Guitar Pick,” “Thin Lips Club,” and “Sorry for my late reply,” she’s quickly establishing herself as a rising star in the Korean music scene. Her experience as guitarist for the indie band 24HOURS further adds depth and energy to her solo performances.
