Malang City Supports the XVI APEKSI 2023 National Meeting’s Three Strategic Agendas

The drumming procession by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) Dr. H. Suhajar Diantoro, M.Si announced the opening of the XVI National Working Meeting (Rakernas) of the Association of Indonesian City Governments (APEKSI) on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at Upper Hills Convention, Makassar.

The three main agendas in the XVI APEKSI Work Meeting delivered by APEKSI Chairperson Dr. H. Bima Arya Sugiarto raised the theme ‘Our Advanced Cities, Strong Indonesia’. “First, APEKSI is committed to guarding autonomy. Second, we care about the future of Golden Indonesia, and third is how to manage the development cycle during the leadership transition and political year,” Bima said.

The strategic message was discussed at the regional level by 98 APEKSI member cities in Indonesia and agreed upon by acclamation by Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji who attended the XVI APEKSI Rakernas. “We must maintain the spirit of autonomy with all its processes to strengthen the welfare of the community through regional potential. For this reason, the issues of P3K recruitment, honorarium, central-regional financing, and education issues are very appropriate. Malang City supports collaborative efforts for that,” explained Malang Mayor Sutiaji.

According to him, Malang City is also very interested in APEKSI’s mission to elevate the role of youth in regional and national leadership towards Indonesia Emas 2045. This mission is certainly in line with the goals that the Malang City Government continues to build, namely the creative economy and human resource development.

Among them are building Malang Creative Center (MCC), promoting dozens of creative events, hundreds of scholarships, alleviating stunting delays, and seeking health insurance for all citizens. In 2022, the creative economy grew by 10.01%, and the Human Development Index (HDI) rose to 82.71.

The XVI APEKSI Rakernas in Makassar on July 10-14, 2023 was also enlivened with the Young City Changer Program, Indonesia City Expo, Cultural Parade, Tree Planting, Ladies Program, and Business Forum. Several national figures such as Prabowo Subianto, Ganjar Pranowo, and Anies Baswedan are scheduled to attend the event.
