Man City vs West Ham: Manchester City managed to tackle West Ham United 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium. Man City got one step closer with this victory, regaining the top spot with a game remaining and a one-point advantage. A third straight loss for West Ham indicates that more effort has to be done to ensure their safety.
Both clubs played goalless in the first half, but Man City went berserk and successfully poured three goals against West Ham in the second half. Despite playing at home, Man City faced fierce resistance from West Ham from the early minutes. Not only solid defensively, West Ham were also able to spread threats.
Nathan Ake managed to score in the 50th minute. Ake’s low header latched onto a Riyadh Mahrez cross in the box. In the 70th minute, Man City’s monster Erling Haaland doubled the hosts’ lead. A perfectly chipped kick from Haaland managed to trick Lukasz Fabianski.
One additional goal in Man City vs West Ham was enough for Haaland to set a historic record in the Premier League. He became the first player in Premier League history to score 35 goals in one season. The 22 years old striker surpassed Andy Cole and Alan Shearer with the deft finish to become the Premier League’s leading scorer in just one season.
