“My My My” marks the start of Morgan’s musical journey this year, introducing a refreshing new vibe while maintaining her signature fusion of R&B and pop. The track carries a laid-back atmosphere, featuring heartfelt lyrics about loving sincerely, even when things don’t go perfectly.
Produced by Blake Strauss (Blxst, Khalid, Duckwrth), Monro (Jhene Aiko, Sinead Harnett, Adekunle Gold), and 808Bhav808 (Bea And Her Business), the song showcases a sleek, detailed modern production. Through this release, Morgan demonstrates her growth as a songwriter and her ability to deliver emotionally expressive performances.
Speaking about the creative process, Morgan shared, “‘My My My’ might be one of my favorite songs so far. It’s about standing by someone you love and giving your all, even when circumstances aren’t ideal. The mood is calm but warm—I instantly felt a special connection to the song when we wrote it a few months ago in LA. It feels like driving late at night with the windows down, getting lost in the music.
”The year 2024 marked a significant milestone for Morgan. Her second EP, Emotional Gangster, released via Red Bull Records, achieved both critical and commercial success, earning over 4 million streams and widespread acclaim. The six-track project blended R&B, pop, and dancehall influences seamlessly, showcasing Morgan’s versatile artistry.
Standout singles from the EP included “Bum Bum,” a carnival-inspired track reimagining Sister Nancy’s legendary “Bam Bam.” The song caught media attention from outlets like Notion and That Grapejuice, and gained airplay on major stations such as BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Kiss, Apple Music 1, and Capital Xtra. Her dancehall collaboration “Wheel Up” with Byron Messia (known for “Talibans”) debuted as DJ Target’s ‘Target Embargo’ choice on BBC 1Xtra, earned Record of the Week by Kaylee Golding, and topped The Guardian’s Track of the Week list.
The EP’s lead single “Lost Myself” showcased Morgan’s introspective songwriting, accompanied by a nostalgic VHS-style music video that resonated with many listeners.
With “My My My,” Morgan continues to refine her pop-R&B sound, delivering a relatable, easy-to-love song that sets the stage for more new music throughout the year.
