Itaewon is the most recommended place to party and celebrate Halloween because Itaewon is very popular among tourists and is a meeting place for various cultures from various countries. The Halloween Festival held in the Itaewon area, Seoul, South Korea on October 29, 2022 was attended by 100,000 people. The Halloween festival was Seoul’s first Halloween event in 3 years after the country lifted Covid-19 restrictions.
During the festival, the crowd was 10 times more congested than usual, which caused a rush in the mob that resulted in 154 fatalities, 133 injuries, and 4,024 unaccounted-for persons. The majority of the fatalities were teenagers. People crammed into the small alley of Itaewon, causing many people to have difficulty breathing and squeezed into each other.
Officials initially said that many of those who died had heart attacks. Residents, police officers and emergency medical personnel were seen performing CPR on people lying on the pavement. Then, rows of bodies covered in sheets or towels appeared before rescue workers could start carrying them away.

The crowd appeared to be difficult for the cops to manage. Many pictures shared on social media depict a number of bodies stacked on top of one another in a small passageway as rescue workers attempt to evacuate the victims. Police also verified that dozens of people were hurt, who were being quickly transported to hospitals throughout the city by limiting traffic in the vicinity.
