Yaeji

Bingkaikarya– Yaeji comeback with “booboo.” a club track. The first new music in a year from the NYC-via-Seoul DJ, singer-songwriter, and producer. After taking a break from clubs to record and release her highly appreciated debut album With A Hammer in 2023, Yaeji returns to the turntables with “booboo.”

Last month at Yaeji’s Brooklyn Mirage Boiler Room DJ , “booboo” debuted. At Pitchfork Music Festival, she performed the song live. Yaeji’s latest introspection produced the careless and regretful party banger. On “booboo,” Yaeji comes to the club feeling freer than ever.

She is surrounded by her friends and the underground dance scene that inspired her to produce music, but she is consumed by her body, mind, and soul.Yaeji calls 2017 “booboo,” the year her hit song “Raingurl” made her famous.

Yaeji’s Statement

Yaeji added, “I think distance makes the heart grow fonder with anything – a little breathing space, a little rest.” Raingurl’s outstanding attention made me take a break from clubbing, dance music, and underground culture, but also offered me a new perspective and admiration for it. Much of my friends’ and mine old parties are turning 10 this year, so booboo’s leaving feels like a full circle. It’s been fantastic to support my best friends as they’ve become DJs and launched their own labels, having fun and hosting parties while creating a radical and safe space. Now I’m back in the music club scene with them!”

Later this month, Yaeji will perform “booboo” at Field Day and Lost Village in the UK. This follows her fall 2023 Roundhouse debut as Pitchfork London’s headliner. She will perform at Club to Club and other events in autumn (dates below). Yaeji returned in late 2023 with her much-anticipated first album, With A Hammer, and the music video for “easy breezy.” Pitchfork characterizes Yaeji’s With A Hammer tour as “[Yaeji] in full-strength superstar mode, singing and dancing to sleek choreography with a finesse that could easily put some big stars to shame,” which corresponds with the single’s release. Yaeji is recovering from a year of milestones, including celebrating her first album With A Hammer’s one-year anniversary and presenting at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards in Japan in March. Inspired, tuned in, cheerful, and hopeful, she dances with humanity and music again.
