Rema and Selena Gomez Share Unique Afrobeat Music in “Calm Down”

Rema released a new version of the song “Calm Down” from the previous album “Rave & Roses” on August 25th, 2022. This song featured Selena Gomez who experienced her 1st time in the Afrobeat genre. Rema made this song after experiencing the spectacular success of his debut album “Rave & Roses”.

“Rave & Roses” made history as the highest-charting debut Afrobeats album in Nigeria after achieving No. 1 in over 16 countries, A-List at BBC 1xtra, Top 10 on the Billboard’s World Music chart, Top 10 on Apple Music, and Shazam charts. The 16-track album “Rave & Roses” incorporated features from a hand-picked list of musicians, including the U.S. singer Chris Brown, 6LACK, the French songstress Yseult, and the UK rapper AJ Tracey.

Inventing a brand-new genre called Afrorave, “Rave & Roses” is a masterclass in his musicality and range as he allows us into his strange and amazing world. After appearances at the UK festivals Strawberries & Cream and Wireless this summer, Rema is now taking the album on the road with a lengthy US tour that includes numerous sold-out visits in Los Angeles and 2 nights at New York City’s Irving Plaza, among other venues. Rema will go on tours of the UK and the EU, including his first headline performance in London later this fall.

Rema has totally changed the game since making his debut. He quickly became one of the largest and most well-known names in the new generation of Afrobeats musicians. The young pioneer stands out for his flexibility, identifying the music of Africa, India, and the Arabic as having a significant effect on his style. With support from people like Timberland, Barack Obama, Rihanna, Drake, Skepta, and FKA Twigs, Rema added his own magical twist to everything he did. His debut album demonstrated that he deserved the attention he has received.
