Bingkai Karya-Shawn Mendes, GRAMMY-nominated singer-songwriter, just released the lead single from his upcoming album, “Why Why Why,” alongside a second song “Isn’t That Enough.” The music video”Why Why Why” took in the beautiful Hudson Valley in New York. Shawn also wrote and recorded the songs for the album. Both tracks will be featured on his new self-titled album, “Shawn,” set to drop on October 18.

In Woodstock, NY, Shawn also kicked off a series of special, intimate shows where he performed the entire album for the first time. These performances are taking place in cities where he worked on the album. Including London, Nashville, Brooklyn, Los Angeles, and Seattle.

“Shawn”

Shawn shared his thoughts on the album, saying that music has been like medicine for him. “Music really can be medicine.  Two years ago, I felt like I had absolutely no idea who I was. A year ago, I couldn’t step into a studio without falling into complete panic. So to be here right now with 12 beautiful finished songs feels like such a gift.” After struggling with identity and panic issues in the studio over the past two years, he’s grateful to have 12 finished songs that mean a lot to him. He hopes listeners will find comfort and connection in the album, just as he does.

“Shawn” is his fifth studio album and reflects his personal growth and experiences over the past few years, especially after having to cancel his 2022 tour. The album is his most personal and honest work yet, with each song offering a glimpse into his self-reflection. It was created in various locations including Nosara, Costa Rica; Rhinebeck, NY; Bear Creek Studio in Washington State; Darkhorse Recordings in Nashville; and Electric Lady in New York City.

Shawn wrote and co-produces the album himself, along with collaborators Scott Harris, Mike Sabath, Nate Mercereau, and Eddie Benjamin. GRAMMY-winning songwriter Amy Allen and Ethan Gruska also contributed, and Chris Thile from the Punch Brothers provided additional instrumentation.
