Bingkai Karya – Kicking off February, the month of love, Yovie & Nuno are set to release their latest single. But this time, it’s not a brand-new song—it’s a remake of their 2007 hit, “Bunga Jiwaku.” According to guitarist Muchamad Ahadiyat, or Diat, the idea of revamping this classic came from Yovie Widianto himself, along with the management team. From there, the band members discussed and selected a few older songs, with “Bunga Jiwaku” being one of them. “One of the reasons we chose this song is because its lyrics and melody still resonate with listeners today. In the end, we decided to re-record it with a fresh arrangement and a new vocal color, as our current vocalist has a different character and timbre from the previous one,” Diat explained.
But Yovie & Nuno didn’t want to simply remake the song—they wanted to give it a whole new feel. “The arrangement is quite different, especially in terms of rhythm, bass lines, and instrumental embellishments,” shared keyboardist Ady Julian. Diat echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the band’s intention to modernize the song for today’s audience.
“The arrangement has changed quite a bit because we wanted to experiment with a more contemporary formula that appeals to today’s generation. However, the song’s structure and melody remain intact, with some additional sections to refresh the track. For this project, we worked with Ari Renaldi as producer and Mas Yovie as co-producer,” Diat added.
For Chico Andreas, Yovie & Nuno’s new vocalist, reinterpreting this beloved hit wasn’t a challenge—it was pure enjoyment. “I just go with the flow so the song feels light and uplifting. I’m also not worried about how Teman Yovie Nuno—both old and new—will receive this version because the essence of Yovie & Nuno remains; we’ve just made it sound more current.”
Meanwhile, Adhyra Yudhi (vocals) saw the song as both a challenge and an opportunity. “I believe that when you put your heart into something, especially singing, the emotions will naturally reach the listeners. Plus, we had the best people working on this single, making the recording process smooth. If anything, I feel more excited because I’ve been entrusted with bringing a fresh new touch to this song. Hopefully, the modern arrangement combined with Chico’s and my vocal styles will introduce listeners to a fresh side of Yovie & Nuno.
According to Diat, this remake project aims to breathe new life into Yovie & Nuno’s classic songs. “Ultimately, we want to offer a fresh vocal interpretation of our older hits with our new vocalists. Our hope is that this remake reaches an even wider audience. And since our goal is to revamp some of our previous songs, you can definitely expect more remakes in the future. Stay tuned.”
With the song’s release aligning perfectly with the month of love, the entire band hopes that this version of “Bunga Jiwaku” resonates with Teman Yovie Nuno and music lovers across Indonesia. For Adhyra and Chico, their biggest wish is for this song to become the perfect soundtrack for those in love, filling their hearts with joy.
