Bingkai Karya-After releasing their song “Misal” in 2022, the band Yovie & Nuno has been pretty quiet. But in 2024, the group is reconnecting with fans through a new single called “Yang Baru.” This song has lyrics by Arsy Widianto and Yovie Widianto, with the whole band contributing to the musical arrangement.
“We still carry the theme of love in this new single, telling the story of someone who has harbored feelings for a long time. One day, they discover that the romantic relationship of the person they like is facing challenges, prompting them to approach their crush once again,” Kang Diat shared.
The band started working on “Yang Baru” back in 2022, around the same time as “Misal.” Although the recording only took about a week, the band decided to wait for the perfect release time. They had originally thought of releasing it last year, but decided to delay it. Finally, they chose October 2024.
Recording two singles at the same time was challenging for Yovie & Nuno because of the different vocal styles of Chico and Adhyra. Each song required its own style. In “Yang Baru,” they wanted a fun, lively vibe, like singing with friends, while “Misal” focused more on an emotional, deep singing style.
Since “Misal” was released, “Yang Baru” offers something fresh for fans of Yovie & Nuno and Indonesian music lovers. The song combines a familiar Yovie & Nuno feel with some new elements, like different guitar and arrangement styles. While “Misal” was slower and more mellow, “Yang Baru” is more upbeat and energetic, encouraging listeners to stay optimistic. Ady added that the message is about being open to meeting new people instead of staying in the past.
