Bingkai Karya – K-pop sensation FIFTY FIFTY returns with their highly anticipated new EP, ‘Imperfect-I’mperfect,’ available now on all digital streaming platforms via Arista Records. Marking a new chapter in the group’s musical journey, the six-track project does not attempt to hide or mask imperfections. Instead, it embraces the idea that our unfinished, imperfect selves can be our most unique, and perhaps most complete versions. The EP confronts honest emotions that exist beyond constant positivity and bright smiles, reminding listeners that it is okay not to feel perfectly happy all the time.

Opening with the pre-release single “STARSTRUCK,” the EP immediately introduces a striking evolution in both the group’s image and sound. Built upon powerful electronic synths, distorted textures, vocal chops, and cyberpunk-inspired production, the track creates a retro-futuristic atmosphere that feels immersive, hypnotic, and emotionally charged. This experimental sonic landscape offers fans an early glimpse into the themes woven throughout the project while showcasing a bold new side of FIFTY FIFTY.

The EP continues with the lead single “Like a Bubble,” which brings a brighter and more uplifting energy through captivating production, cheerful melodies, warm harmonies, and atmospheric instrumentation paired with boom bap-inspired rhythms. At its core, the song celebrates self-love and self-acceptance, embracing one’s imperfections while capturing the liberating feeling of letting go of emotional burdens. Together, “STARSTRUCK” and “Like a Bubble” embody FIFTY FIFTY’s undeniable artistic growth and newfound sense of freedom.

Additional tracks such as “Took It Too Far” and “Genie Magic” inject vibrant energy into the project while continuing to explore the emotional complexities that run throughout the EP. “Took It Too Far” blends dreamy, groove-driven textures with playful tension to portray a relationship that repeatedly clashes yet remains impossible to walk away from. Meanwhile, “Genie Magic” sparkles with bright synths, infectious energy, and a joyful spirit, celebrating the unexpected magic that love can bring.

On the more introspective side, songs like “PERFECT” and “Carry On” highlight the group’s emotional vulnerability and cinematic storytelling. “PERFECT” combines dreamy R&B textures with subtle retro influences, capturing both the excitement and nervousness of first love while delivering a confident and heartfelt confession. Closing the EP, “Carry On” builds toward an uplifting emotional climax through expansive production, powerful vocals, and dynamic ad-libs, leaving listeners with a lasting sense of comfort, healing, and hope.

Leading up to the release, the group further demonstrated their artistic versatility with their warmly received cover of Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here,” earning praise from fans and critics alike for their heartfelt reinterpretation of the iconic classic. More recently, they spoke with Variety about the creative direction behind their artistic evolution and the emotional themes that inspired their latest project.

FIFTY FIFTY continues to establish itself as one of K-pop’s fastest-rising groups following the phenomenal success of “Cupid,” which became the longest-charting K-pop song in the history of the Billboard Hot 100, remaining on the chart for 25 consecutive weeks and peaking at No. 17. The song’s explosive popularity on TikTok and streaming platforms introduced the group to a massive global audience, and over the past year, FIFTY FIFTY has continued expanding its international reach while evolving artistically with each new release.

From dazzling dance-pop moments to softer, introspective tracks, ‘Imperfect-I’mperfect’ captures the complexities of youth, identity, emotional uncertainty, and personal growth while further solidifying FIFTY FIFTY’s position as one of the most exciting emerging acts in global pop music.

About FIFTY FIFTY

FIFTY FIFTY debuted in November 2022 and achieved global commercial success with their breakout hit “Cupid.” The song became the longest-charting K-pop track in the history of the Billboard Hot 100, spending 25 consecutive weeks on the chart and reaching a peak position of No. 17, while also climbing to No. 2 on the Billboard Global 200. The track gained significant traction on TikTok through a viral dance trend launched by the group, generating more than two million user-created videos using the “Twin Version,” along with millions more utilizing its sped-up audio. Unlike many K-pop groups that initially focus on domestic audiences and Korean-language releases, FIFTY FIFTY has distinguished itself through Western pop influences and English-language hooks, as heard in songs such as “SOS” and “Gravity.” Last year, the group signed a U.S. recording deal with Arista Records and released their comeback EP, ‘Love Tune.’ To date, they have released two EPs ‘The FIFTY’ and ‘Love Tune’ as well as their full-length album ‘The Beginning.’ The group also contributed a track to the soundtrack of the blockbuster film Barbie.
