Head Head Returns with Uplifting Melodies and Melancholic Lyrics in “Meet Me in Heaven”

Bingkai Karya – Malang’s beloved indie pop band Head Head is back! After a four-year hiatus, the quartet returns with their brand new single “Meet Me in Heaven,” a bittersweet blend of their signature uplifting melodies and surprisingly dark lyrics.

Composed by Bepe (vocal & guitar), Meidi (guitar), Yoga (bass), and Emir (drum), the song’s bright and shimmering soundscapes are reminiscent of their previous hits “Vivid Reality” and “Mythomania.” However, a closer listen reveals a melancholic and even borderline depressing undercurrent, inspired by a true-to-life experience of unrequited love and suicidal ideation.

“This single was written based on a true experience from a close friend,” the band shares. “His dream girl turned out to be unattainable, and he felt such despair that he contemplated ending his life to reunite with her in the afterlife.”

The music video for “Meet Me in Heaven” takes the emotional rollercoaster even further. Directed by the talented Prialangga, the visual interpretation features actors Mochamad Daniar and Saha Abel portraying a couple in a toxic relationship. The lush setting and drizzling rain contribute to the melancholic atmosphere, while Daniar’s expressive acting beautifully portrays the character’s descent into mental instability.

But “Meet Me in Heaven” is not without hope. Through the video’s surprise twist ending, Head Head subtly encourages viewers to seek help and value life even in the darkest moments.

“We understand that many people go through similar struggles,” the band says. “If you’re experiencing mental health issues, please know that you’re not alone. Seek professional help and remember that things can always get better.”

Head Head’s return is a welcome addition to the music scene, reminding us of the power of music to both entertain and address difficult topics. With their new single, the band proves that their artistic journey is far from over, and their fans can expect even more thought-provoking and emotional music in the future.

So, welcome back Head Head! We’re excited to see what you have in store for us next.
