Bingkai Karya – After briefly “disappearing” from major releases and only releasing one single throughout last year, Dikta has officially returned with his latest EP titled ‘Unapologetic’, released on May 15, 2026 (Friday). This musical project feels far more personal, bolder, and marks a new chapter of exploration in his musical journey.
More than just a title, ‘Unapologetic’ fully represents Dikta’s state of mind while working on the EP. He explained that the entire creative process was carried out consciously, confidently, and without any regrets. “I’m really happy with this new EP. I really gave 100% of myself to this EP,” he said. The name ‘Unapologetic’ was chosen because it best reflects the overall energy he wanted to convey into the project.
Consisting of six tracks, the EP showcases a side of Dikta’s music that has never been fully revealed before. While not entirely experimental, several songs provide Dikta with the opportunity to finally explore musical styles he has long wanted to explore but never had the chance to. As a result, ‘Unapologetic’ presents a distinctly different feel from his previous works, both in terms of musicality, lyrical approach, and the emotional depth.
Among the six tracks, “Stop Bilang Iya” was chosen as the main focus track. The song explores the theme of being a people pleaser and serves as a reminder to prioritize yourself. Through the song, Dikta wants to convey that saying “no” isn’t wrong. “If you keep saying ‘yes’, you’ll just get tired,” he said.
Lyrically and narratively, ‘Unapologetic’ is also heavily inspired by Dikta’s personal life. This includes his life story, family relationships, and personal reflections that he has rarely shared in his previous work. This makes the EP feel more honest and emotionally intimate.
Interestingly, the EP’s production process took a relatively short amount of time, around two months. Behind this, there are stories of pressure and deadlines that made the creative process very intense. Dikta admitted to miscalculating the production schedule because it was cut short by the Eid al-Fitr holiday, forcing the entire team to work extra hard and even lose sleep to complete everything on time. Despite the exhaustion, the experience was actually one of the most exciting ones for him.
The release of ‘Unapologetic’ also marks a significant moment for Dikta after taking a long break to “re-examine” himself and reflect on the kind of musical direction he truly wanted to pursue. Now, with this EP, he feels he has found the answer and is ready to open a new chapter in his musical journey.
Going forward, Dikta revealed that he plans to actively release singles regularly again. Once he has accumulated enough material, it is possible that all of it will culminate in a full-length album. With ‘Unapologetic’, Dikta not only makes a comeback but also demonstrates his transformation into a more honest, bolder, and uncompromising musician. The EP ‘Unapologetic’ will be available on all digital streaming platforms on May 15, 2026.
