The four animated videos of The Panturas four songs in the “Ombak Banyu Asmara” album depict the story of three characters sailing towards the sea. In the middle of the voyage, a gigantic figure appeared, rampaging to the point where the boat they were on sank so that the three figures were separated into their own surreal journeys. At the end of the story, the figure of Nyi Roro Kidul or Ratu Pantai Selatan is presented again as in the previous album “Mabuk Laut (2018)”, this time as the figure of a “mother” who interprets the place where every human being returns after his journey.
Ula Zuhra, illustrator collaborator on this animated series said that there was no specific message he was trying to convey. However, every journey the three characters take is likened to a “limbo” in Catholic theology, namely a journey between heaven and hell so that they prioritize fluidity and surrealism in their visual depiction.
